Electives

This year I did extensive studying of European art movements across different cultures from ancient times until today. I used minor projects and mnemonics in order to remember and analyze major artistic periods, this beginning with the prehistoric era and studies of works such as the British Stonehenge and the French Lascaux Caves and ending with modern works such as Magdalena Abakanowicz’s ‘Androgyne III’. I watched online lessons from YouTube channels devoted to history and art history, which especially helped me to remember.

I took a particular interest in the Romantic movement of the late 18th and 19th centuries, which focuses on the grandeur of nature, anti-industrialization, the passage of time, and politics.
